Gaurav Khanna as Anuj "AK" Kapadia aka Anuj Buddy, is an NRI business tycoon from the USA, he relocated to India and turns out to be Anupamaa and Devika's high schoolmate and friend. It is revealed that Anuj loved Anupamaa for twenty-six years and remained unmarried, nurturing his LOVE for Anupama.
Anuj will meet Anupamaa at their school’s reunion party. He loves, adore and worship the ground Anupama stepped on, he can't stand Anupama's insult and defend her wholeheartedly.
Anuj instantly becomes friends with Samar and other members of Shah's family after he saves Samar from an accident. Anuj will gives Anupamaa a business partnership for his future project to which she agrees with the support of her well-wishers from the family. Seeing Anupamaa and Anuj's growing friendship, Vanraj seethes in jealousy.
As time passes, Vanraj, Leela, Paritosh, and Kavya slander Anupamaa for her growing friendship with Anuj. Tired of all taunts and accusations she leaves the house and Samar also follows her. They start living in a rented apartment. Anuj confesses his unrequited love for Anupamaa after becoming irritated by some family members' slandering her, unaware of the fact that Anupamaa overheard his confession. Anuj meets with accident while fighting some goons and Anupamaa starts realizing her feelings for him.
In the recent plot, it is shown that Anupama has been going through a lot of stress at present. Anupama, played by Rupali Ganguly, will suffers a panic attack after she get tricked by loan sharks. It is shown that she is putting all her efforts to save the plot that has her dance academy and café. When she becomes hopeless and finds no solution, she decides to approach Rakhi Dave for help.
In the next episode, it be shown that Anupama will approaches Rakhi Dave’s residence and pleads with her to help her family This will infuriate Vanraj.
